Hawick is an old mill town, located on the river Teviot in the Scottish Borders. It is a town steeped in tradition and full of friendly folk, and surrounded by stunning scenery. There's also plenty to keep you occupied during your stay!
Here at Lux Bed and Breakfast we have six rooms, which all have WiFi, flatscreen televisions, and en-suite bathrooms. We are conveniently located just a short walk from the town's High Street.
We do offer discounted rates for stays over three days, and group bookings. We are happy to cater towards your dietary preferences, such as vegetarian food. We are also very happy to cater towards your honeymoon or wedding anniversary to make it an unforgettable event. Hawick's famous exports include rugby and cashmere. Hawick celebrates many events throughout the year: we have the Blues festival, the Reivers festival, and perhaps most famously, the Common Riding.
Described as "one of the best parties in the world," the annual Common Riding is a celebration of the ancient custom of riding the boundaries of the common land, and the capture of the English flags by young men from Hawick.
Hawick is one of the farthest towns from the sea in Scotland! People from Hawick are known as "Teries." Some famous faces from Hawick include Sir Chay Blythe, and Bill McLaren!

Hawick Golf Club
Hawick is the oldest golf club in the Borders, and is set in amidst the picturesque countryside, taking in heather-clad hills, and the Tweed and Teviot Rivers. The golf course is set on the Vertish Hill, just outside the town of Hawick, and is relatively short, but the undulations make it a challenge for any golfer.
Minto Golf Club
Designed in 1928 Minto Golf Club is set in the undulating parkland of Minto Hill. The testing but fair parkland course offers golfers of all abilities an enjoyable round of golf.
Galashiels Golf Club
Avchallenging course with some beautiful scenery, overlooking the historic Border Town of Galashiels.
Hirsel Golf Club
This parkland course offers visitors beautiful views of the surrounding Borders countryside, and has been described by some commentators as ‘the Augusta of the Borders'.
Jedburgh Golf Club
Jedburgh Golf Club is set in the heart of the Scottish Borders amidst outstanding scenery with breathtaking views across the Cheviot hills.
Selkirk Golf Club
The present course was laid out in 1924, by Musselburgh's Willie Park. Overlooking the town the golf club provides a spectacular view over the Linglie Hills and the distant rolling hills of Ettrick & Yarrow.
Woll Golf Course
Set in a beautiful valley near Selkirk and Hawick the Woll is an exciting 18 hole parkland course. It is testing and enjoyable for golfers of all abilities.
Torwoodlee Golf Club
Situated just outside Galashiels in the beautiful Scottish Borders countryside, with over 100 years of history, Torwoodlee is a picturesque 18-hole 6,021 yrd, par 69 golf course. Flanked by the River Gala and set amoungst a mix of mature woodland and rolling parkland, it is one of the most challenging golf courses in the Scottish Borders.
Kelso Golf Club
Situated on the outskirts of the picturesque town of Kelso our parkland course is renowned for the quality of its greens and fairways. At just over 6000 yards long, and relatively flat, the course offers a good challenge to golfers of all abilities without being too physically demanding.
