Baincraig Lodge offers a superb self-catering holiday experience. This exclusive retreat is designed to appeal to those who seek rest and relaxation in delightful rural surroundings. Best suited to adults and children over 12, the Lodge is centrally heated, double-glazed and beautifully presented with quality furnishings and fittings. As soon as you arrive you will begin to relax and unwind.
Situated on the lower slopes of a south-facing hillside, Baincraig Steading is wonderfully sheltered with fabulous views across the valley to Falkland and the Lomond Hills. Auchtermuchty village is just a short walk down the lane - near enough for convenience yet far enough away to pretend it’s not really there at all! Here, in North East Fife, we seem to have more than our fair share of good days. Sitting out on the wraparound verandah in the evening, you can enjoy a nightcap as you watch the sun disappear over the horizon to the west. We hope you will find that we’ve thought of everything – if not, please let us know and we’ll try to do something about it!
Accommodation
The bright comfortable lounge area has a cosy, stove-type gas fire, Wi-Fi Broadband access, TV, video, dvd, radio/tape/cd player, books, board games, videos, DVDs, CDs, etc. The patio doors open directly onto the wraparound verandah with table, parasol and chairs.
The modern, well-equipped kitchen area has a gas cooker with extractor hood, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and an excellent supply of cookware, crockery, cutlery etc. The utility room, situated by the entrance door is fitted with sink, washing machine and tumble drier and has ample cupboard space to hang outdoor coats, store golf clubs and leave walking boots etc.
The main bathroom is extremely spacious with fitted cupboards and has a full sized bath with shower over.
The Master bedroom has a king-size bed, en-suite shower room and wall-mounted LCD TV. The Twin bedroom has excellent single beds with double duvets for extra comfort. Both bedrooms have double, mirrored wardrobes, hairdryers and alarm clocks. Beds are made up for your arrival. You will find that we have provided everything from towels to toilet rolls - all you need to bring is your toothbrush and a change of clothes!
Throughout the lodge there is generous storage provision. Outside the lodge there is a large garden area with an arbour/swing, bird boxes and feeders, wild flower area to encourage butterflies and parking for several cars.

Things to Do and See from your base at Baincraig Lodge
If you get tired of relaxing, you could choose from a wide variety of activities which are to be found close by. There's off-roading, horse riding, clay pigeon shooting, fishing, bird watching and interesting walks. There are castles, coastal paths and villages, craft centres, and all sorts of visitor attractions There are theatres and concert halls, leisure centres, ten-pin bowling, cinemas and, of course, shops of all kinds. The lodge has a folder containing leaflets and information for you to browse through but you may also want to access the many websites dedicated to the Kingdom of Fife.
Golf nearby: There are over 100 golf courses within striking distance by car and we are only 20 miles from the home of golf at St. Andrews.
Falkland Golf Club
Falkland Golf Course is a short, but tough test of golf, set deep in a lush farmland area known as the 'Howe of Fife'. This is a charming 9 hole courses of undulating parkland layout.
Ladybank Golf Club
A heathland course of Championship status (Par 71) set amongst heather, pine trees and silver birch. The Championship course (6754 yards) has two loops of nine holes - visitors generally use the blue course (6299 yards).
Balbirnie Park Golf Club
Situated in Markinch near Glenrothes and set within 140 acres of superb woodland, this beautiful layout opened in 1983 and, with a par of 71 and measuring 6,300 yards from the men's tees, is a good challenge for golfers of all abilities. The course has hosted many PGA events including the Scottish Assistants Championship and with its close proximity to St Andrews is the ideal venue for the visiting golfer
Glenrothes Golf Club
Glenrothes Golf Course is an eighteen hole course 5857 metres long (6406 yards), par 71. The course occupies a prominent position on the high ground to the west of Glenrothes. Constructed in 1967 it is set in mature parkland and remains in excellent condition throughout the season.
King James VI Golf Club
The country's only self-contained river island golf course, King James VI Golf Club offers a beautiful but challenging environment for both novices and advanced players alike. Founded in 1858 nearby at Perth's South Inch, then relocated to Moncrieffe Island, elsewhere in Perth, in 1897, and a purpose-built golf course designed by 'Old' Tom Morris, the legendary winner of multiple British Open Golf Championships.
