Situated a mere 5-minute stroll from the town centre of Dornoch and within 10 minutes of the glorious beach, Links Cottage is a traditional sandstone cottage, built at the turn of the 20th Century.
It lies within 200 metres of Royal Dornoch Club House, Tennis court and Bowling green. Sitting in a quiet, sheltered, large garden, the cottage faces west with magnificent views up the Domoch Firth to the hills beyond.
Dornoch, created a Royal Burgh in 1628, is the County Town of Sutherland. It has a fine Cathedral dating from 1239 and boasts one of the world’s top 20 golf courses, set in spectacular scenery. The beach has miles of golden sands for walking and, as it is gently-shelving, it’s ideal safe bathing. It is never overcrowded.
The Town has many fine hotels and restaurants and interesting, individual shops. Facilities, as well as golf, include tennis, squash, bowling and croquet. Horse riding, indoor swimming, angling and cycling can also be arranged locally. The area is ideal for bird watching, with Loch Fleet a particular attraction. Ospreys and Red Kites are spectacular sightings. Dornoch's' Common Good' land is a haven for wildlife and hosts many unusual plant species. Most Saturday evenings in Summer, the local Pipe Band plays in the Square. The area enjoys the Moray Firth’s enviable dry, mild climate and is the ideal spot for a peaceful outdoor holiday. With Inverness only 45 miles away and the North and North-West coasts within easy travelling distance, Dornoch is a good base for exploring some of Scotland’s most impressive scenery.
Accommodation
Accommodation comprises 1 double and 2 twin rooms sleeping up to 6 guests and 1 infant. All beds have duvets and two pillows per person. There is a double electric over-blanket and two single under-blankets. Hot water bottles are provided for the remaining two single beds and further electric blankets can be provided upon request. Extra bedclothes are available for colder weather.
For infants, a drop-side cot with duvet is available on request. A full linen service is provided.
Cozy sitting/dining room with a period fireplace, and equipped with a colour TV and radio. There are also board games, toys and a wide selection of reading material for evenings and any rainy days. A folder of Tourist Board information and details of local activities and places of interest is provided and we are glad to offer suggestions for local walks and picnic spots.
BATHROOM: The bathroom is situated on the first floor; it has a full size bath with electric shower over, heated towel rail, shaver point and a hair dryer. Towels, from hand to bath sheet size, are provided as part of a full linen service.
KITCHEN: The compact kitchen is very well equipped, with a full size electric cooker,
microwave oven, fridge-freezer, washing machine, clothes airer, iron and ironing board. A separate tumble dryer is situated in the porch. We can fill a grocery order for your arrival or stock-up the deep freeze for you.
The large secluded garden is suitable for dogs and children in that it is well away from traffic but it is not completely enclosed. There is a swing, a small barbeque and garden furniture.
Ample parking exists to both the front and rear of the cottage.

Royal Dornoch Golf Club
Royal Dornoch Golf Club Championship Course is considered one of the finest courses in Scotland if not the world and has a legion of fans both home and abroad. One of Tom Watson's favourite course was actually designed by another famous Open winning Tom: Old Tom Morris who brilliantly integrated the unique links land of Sutherland to create a spectacular course. Since then Royal Dornoch has retained its spirit but been tweaked enough to move with the times and present a modern challenge that is still today regularly voted in the top 15 courses worldwide.
The Struie Course The recent addition of five new holes on the Struie have transformed this course into one that still maintains its role as an enjoyable and entertaining course for the whole family, but one that tests even the lower handicap player.
Golspie Golf Club
Set at the foot of Ben Bhraggie in the Highlands of Scotland, Golspie Golf Club offers one of the finest settings for a round of golf. Founded in 1889 and designed by the legendary James Braid. The course offers a refreshing challenge to all abilities of golfer, Golspie offers a unique blend of seaside links, heath and parkland golf.
Tain Golf Club
Championship length links enjoys spectacular views over mountains and sea and benefits from a sheltered climate, which allows favourable golfing conditions for most of the year.
Skibo Golf
Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle is home to an outstanding golf course designed by Donald Steele. Located on the edge of the Dornoch Firth with breathtaking views of the Struie Hills, the golf course merges seamlessly with its beautiful surroundings.
Bonar Bridge, Ardgay Golf Club
On 29th of September 1904 Mrs Carnegie of Skibo opened Bonar Bridge, Ardgay Golf Club. Set in some of the most spectacular scenery in Sutherland with Rolling Hills, Purple Heather, Scots pine and views over Loch Migdale.
