Located just off the main road north from Newtyle, why not enjoy a tranquil rural location, while still only a short 20/25 minutes drive from the centres of Perth or Dundee. The location is a haven for recreational and sports enthusiasts and offers visitors a chance of some of the finest trout fishing, shooting, riding and walking in Scotland.
Kinpurnie is closely located to famous landmarks like Scone Palace and Glamis Castle - which was the birthplace of the Queen Mother and the setting for Shakespeare's Macbeth respectively.
The Kinpurnie Cottages are perfectly located within the beautiful Angus countryside. We offer a wide choice of luxury cottages which cater for small (2) and large parties of up to 11 people.
Each lodge on offer has its own garden, with facilities for dining al fresco and barbeques, which is ideal for families. Most of the lodges now have a luxury hot tub, in whcih to relax in after a long day or to cosy up in during a romantic break! Kinpurnie cottages are within an hour's drive of over fifty of the country's best golf courses, including the championship courses of St Andrews, Carnoustie and Gleneagles. You will also find Muirfield just a bit further away in East Lothian on the coast of the Firth of Forth
Famous Courses:
St Andrews – St Andrews, Fife, KY16 9SF
The most famous golf course in the world and recognised for being the home of golf. There are 7 wonderful courses to choose from including the most famous one – The Old Course, which is home to The Open Championship every 5 years.
Royal Troon - Craigend Road, Troon, KA10 6EP
Is famous for hosting The Open Championship plus other PGA and European Tour events. There are 3 courses to choose from Portland, Craigend and the famous Old Course. The Old Course is a very tricky links course which is famous for having the longest and shortest hole of all the Open Championship venues.
Carnoustie – Regarded as one of the toughest Links golf courses in the world, Carnoustie offers a great challenge to anyone who plays there. Carnoustie is also a Open Championship venue holding its last tournament in 2007 on its Championship course which was won by Ireland’s Padraig Harrington. This course is very open and quite flat but if you wish to tackle it, you will have to compete with the many deep bunkers, undulating greens, thick rough and the strong sea winds. The other courses to choose from include Burnside and the Buddon Links.
Gleneagles – Auchterarder, Perthshire, PH3 1NF
Unlike the courses above, Gleneagles is not a links course but instead a heathland course. Even so, Gleneagles still plays host to major European Tour events including the Johnnie Walker Championship in August and in 2014 the Ryder Cup on the PGA Centenary course which was designed by Jack Nicholas. Gleneagles also offers you the chance to play on two other course – The King’s Course and The Queen’s Course.

Camperdown Golf Course - Coupar Angus Road, Dundee, DD2 4TF : This is pleasant par 71 parkland golf course which you will enjoy as long as you avoid the woodland that runs alongside the holes. A price for a round ranges from £26-31.
Strathmore Golf Centre – Leroch, Alyth, Blairgowrie, Perthshire, PH11 8NZ : Strathmore offers two competitive courses courses – The par 72 Rannaleroch Course and the nine hole Leitfie Links Course.
Alyth Golf Club – Pitcrocknie, Alyth, PH11 8HF : Alyth is a pleasant 18 hole heathland golf course. The course offers some tricky obstacles to overcome including the diverse rolling terrain and the trees that line the course, which means the emphasis needs to be about placement than distance. Green fees from £25-35.
Blairgowrie Golf Club – Rosemount, Blairgowrie, Perthshire, PH10 6LG : Blairgowrie is a very well kept parkland golf club with a fine clubhouse to retire to after an enjoyable round. There are three courses to choose from including the Rosemount, the Landsdowne and the nine hole Wee course. Green fees is £70 in high season for Rosemount and £45 in Low, £50 for Landsdowne in high and £35 in low and £20 for the Wee Course.
Kirriemuir Golf Club - Shielhill Road, Northmuir, Kirriemuir DD8 4LN : Kirriemuir is a highly regarded golf club which offers testing parkland course. The highlight of the course is the 17th and 18th which will put your skills to the test. The 17th is a testing long par three with the fair in between narrowing towards the hole with trees and bushes placed down either side. The price for a round on this par 68 course is £36-40.
Piperdam Golf & Leisure – truly is a hidden gem and must be considered when playing golf in Scotland. Everything about this resort is perfect with high quality courses, the beautiful views and the fine clubhouse. The resort even has its own lock to fish and a choice of leisure facilities. Piperdam offers the main Osprey Course and a highly regarded par 3 course – The Wee Piper. Green fees £34-38 for the Ospreys Course and £13-15 for the Wee Piper Course.
Downfield Golf Club – Turnberry Avenue, Dundee, Scotland, DD2 3QP : Downfield Gold Club is regarded as Dundee’s premier golf course as has played host many high profile tournaments in the past including S.P.G.A Masters, P.G.A Scottish Open and more recently the qualifying venue for the 1999 and 2007 Open Championship. The course is quite a long par 72 course but offers generous wide fairways. Do watch out for the array of wildlife on the park course, you will be amazed what you will see.
Ballumbie Castle Golf Club - 3 Old Quarry Road,off Ballumbie Road, Dundee, DD4 0SY
Ballumbie Castle Golf Club offers pleasant course which you will sure enjoy. The course generally offers open fairways and run off areas which will allow you the chance to get to the green with a birdie chance. But on holes like 10 and 11, this will certainly test your skills due to large water hazards and out of bounds coming into play. The price for a round is £23-25 dependant on the size of your party.
Caird Park Golf Club - Mains Loan, Dundee, DD4 9BX : Caird Park Golf Course is a testing parkland golf course located on the North boundaries of Dundee. The course offers a 18 hole par 72 course as well as a 9 hole course. The cost of a round ranges from £26-31.
