Knocke-sur-mer
Golf was first played at Knocke-sur-mer at the turn of the last century in 1899. Originally an off-shoot of the Bruges Golf and Sport Club, it became the Knocke Golf Club in 1909. From the very beginning the British influence has been prominent and most of the first Captains came from across the Channel.
Royal Zoute Golf Club
Play was suspended during the First World War and the course was badly damaged at that time. After the War, a new course was built and in 1925, through the good offices of the then president, Sir Maurice Lippens, His Majesty the King graciously allowed the Club to assume the title of 'Royal Zoute Golf Club'. The professionals are unanimous in considering Royal Zoute as one of the most outstanding ones on the continent
