Golf

Monmouthshire Cottage is central to numerous Golf Courses, there are too many to list but briefly here are a few choices. The Celtic Manor host to Ryder cup 2010, Rolls of Monmouth and St Pierre.

Please see our website for more details but here are just a small selection.

St. Pierre Country Club Chepstow

St. Pierre’s manor estate has become one of the premier golfing venues in Europe featuring two 18-hole courses. Nestled among the ancient trees and peaceful hills, St. Pierre,is a top destination for professional and amateur golfers alike.

The Old Course at St. Pierre Country Club has been ranked one of the top 120 golf courses in the world by Golf Monthly. This famous course has hosted over a dozen European tournaments, and past winners at the Old Course include Seve Ballesteros, Greg Norman, and Bernhard Langer.

The Mathern Course at St. Pierre Country Club is shorter than the Old Course, but equally as enjoyable with its stunning parkland design. The shorter length makes it ideal for an early morning game before work or a meeting. The Mathern Course is also a refreshing end to a day spent touring the surrounding attractions in Wales.

Shirenewton Golf Club Tel: 01291641471

Shirenewton has developed into a wonderful test of wits, patience and skill since it opened for play in 1994. Not only does it test all of the above, your stamina is also given a good going over, as this is a hilly parkland course that certainly stretches your legs. Quality greens are a major highlight at this layout and that is largely down to the impressive drainage system that has been introduced in recent years.

Celtic Manor Golf Resort

Roman Road Course: The Roman Road was the resort's first, opened in 1995,. Robert Trent Jones had to build around the many ancient Roman roads that traverse the land.

Montgomerie Course: The recently opened Montgomerie Course has been built using the land that formerly hosted the Coldra academy course, and Monty has used some of the original holes from the former Wentwood Hills Course.

Twenty Ten Course: The Ryder Cup Course has been built at the bottom of the valley, and as a result the surrounding hills serve as natural amphitheatres; the atmosphere at the 2010 matches was scintillating. With the course measuring 7,469-yards from the Championship markers, this is an examination that will test all who step out onto its lush fairways.

Dewstow Golf Club

Dewstow Golf Club offers 2 great courses: The Valley and The Park.

The Valley Course opened in 1988, and was developed around the natural contours of the Dewstow estate meadowlands. It features many mature trees which have been supplemented with the addition of several thousand new trees, now themselves well established.

The Park Course is a par 69, easy walking challenge, initially developed during 1992 and 1993, and follows the natural contours of the gentle Monmouthshire hills.

Alice Springs Golf Club

Alice Springs Golf Club is highly accessible. The parkland course is noted for its natural surroundings, spectacular views and course design providing a test for golfers of all levels. With 36 Holes : Usk Course & Monnow Course to choose from you are spoilt for choice!

The Usk Course measures 5,967 yards, par 70 for men and 5,165 yards, par 72 for ladies and is a course which will not let you relax from the 1st to the 18th.

The Monnow Course measures 5,321 yards, par 69 for men and 4,755 yards, par 70 for ladies and is a fair and enjoyable test for any level of golfer.

The Rolls of Monmouth Golf Club

The Rolls of Monmouth Golf Club, with its championship 6,733 yard golf course, is set in suberb countryside with spectacular views of the Welsh hills. The course demands a wide range of shots and each hole has been designed to challenge each aspect of the golfer's game.
