Erroll Schoolhouse offers comfortable Bed & Breakfast accommodation in a non-smoking, Category B listed building dating back to the early 1800's. Additional Bed & Breakfast or self-catering accommodation is available in the attached Sycamore Hall.

 

Sycamore Hall offers Self Catering accommodation near Peterhead in north east Scotland - is the converted classroom of Erroll School, a Category B listed building built by the Earl and Countess of Erroll in 1834.

 

Situated in Cruden Bay

The house is set amongst wide open fields overlooking the sea, half a mile outside the village of Cruden Bay, Aberdeenshire. Cruden Bay is a coastal village with a long uninterrupted sandy beach, perfect for walks or, for the more adventurous, a spot of power kiting. The cliff trails offer some lovely walks and you can wind your way from the beach right up to the ruin of Slains Castle - the acknowledged inspiration for Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” - which overlooks the sea.
 

The village has a picturesque harbour and is home to Cruden Bay Golf Course, a world class Links course rated in the top 100. Erroll Schoolhouse is also ideally situated for exploring the Castle Trails, Coastal Trails and Whisky Trails. For nature lovers, you can go bird watching at Loch of Strathbeg, Forvie Nature Reserve and Bullers of Buchan.
 

For golfers, there are many other famous golf courses within an hour's travelling time.

 

Bed & Breakfast

Erroll Schoolhouse offers comfortable Bed and Breakfast accommodation half a mile south of the village of Cruden Bay in a non-smoking Category B listed building dating back to the early 1800's.

The double and triple bedrooms in the main house currently share a full bathroom. The double room with antique bed, has an en suite shower. The twin room has an ensuite bathroom. The triple room has a private sitting room with sea views from the adjoining tower room. All rooms have a hospitality tray, radio alarm clock, TV, bathrobe, towels and hair drier.

 

An additional two rooms are situated in Sycamore Hall, a self contained converted classroom, when it is not booked as self catering accommodation. Here, there are two bedrooms which share a shower room. One has a King-size bed (which can be twin) and a unique glass feature wall using the old screens from the classroom. The other has two single beds. Both are equipped with radio alarm clock, bathrobe, towels and hair drier. Television is in the open plan lounge with log fire. There is also a double sofa bed which allows for a larger family group to stay. Snacks are left in the kitchen. Washing, drying and ironing facilities are available for a small extra charge.

 

Both properties also have a selection of reading material, board games, tourist books and brochures.

Children welcome. Cot & high chair available. Sorry, no pets.

Breakfast

An extensive continental buffet breakfast is available from 7.30 - 9.30 Mon - Fri and 8.30 - 9.30 Sat & Sun. Breakfast can be served earlier if you have an early start.

 

Self Catering

Sycamore Hall is a self contained, converted classroom which offers an additional two rooms for Bed & Breakfast, when it is not booked as self-catering accommodation. It is the converted classroom of Erroll School, a Category B listed building built by the Earl and Countess of Erroll in 1834.

 

The accommodation comprises a large entrance porch with utility room and separate toilet, an open plan ground floor with kitchen, lounge and dining areas. A spiral staircase leads to a galleried upper floor with a shower room and toilet, and two bedrooms. One has a King size bed (which can be two singles) with a unique glass feature wall using the old screens from the classroom. The other has two single beds. There is also a double sofa bed in the Lounge area which allows for a larger family group to stay.

 

Comfortably furnished, Sycamore Hall is fully equipped and has the original log fire as well as storage heating. There is a large gas cooker, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, microwave, iron & ironing board. Each bedroom has a radio alarm clock, towelling bathrobe and hair drier. Towels, linen, logs, electricity and gas are included.

 

A selection of board games, reading material, tourist books and brochures is available for guests as well as the use of the garden alongside with the view of Slains Castle and the sea.

Children Welcome. Cot, high chair & stair gate available. Sorry, no pets.

 

RATES:

Daily Rates: £150 per night for stays of less than a full week. Minimum 2 nights.
Weekly Rates: June, July & August £475 per week September £375 per week

Cruden Bay Golf Club

The Golf Course creates unique challenges demanding the skills of power, placement and fine judgement upon the discerning golfer. Set against a backdrop of subtly contoured greens and magnificent panoramic views.

 

Peterhead Golf Club

Nestling in the dunes above the point where the River Ugie and the North Sea meet is Peterhead Golf Club, one of the finest links courses to be found in Scotland. The club, founded in 1841, is the 18th oldest in the world tests the golfing ability of every calibre of golfer from the high handicapper to the scratch man

 

Trump International Golf Course

All 18 holes thread their way engagingly through the dunes, rising to find views of the sea and coastline, plunging into secluded valleys, offering a sequence of superlative topography, landscape, alternating spaciousness and enclosure, panoramic views, a rich texture of vegetation and wildlife habitats surrounding the golf holes.

 

Longside Golf Club

Longside is a small and charming course on the outskirts of the village. It is situated in some of Scotland's most fertile farmland amid the rolling pastures. A prominent feature of the course is the River Ugie which runs through the course.

 

Newburgh-on-Ythan Golf Club

Established in the 19th century, this seaside course is an unusual mix of links and pasture land. Lying next to the River Ythan, the course is noted for the quality of its greens, playable whatever the weather, and its magnificent setting.

 

McDonald Golf Club, Ellon

McDonald Golf Club, Ellon is set in the heart of Aberdeenshire countryside, 16 miles north of Aberdeen, this scenic eighteen hole golf course provides a memorable golfing experience for all standards of golfer.

 

Turriff Golf Club

Those of us fortunate enough to play Turriff on a regular basis are fulsome in our praise of the course and its surroundings. On a fine summer’s day there is no finer place to be.

 

Huntly Golf Club

Huntly is a parkland course set in the former policies of Huntly Castle itself. Very popular with outings since, being relatively short at 4904yds.

 

Royal Tarlair Golf Club
