Golf:
Church Stretton Golf Club
The course is relatively short at just over 5,000 yards, but never easy. Many greens are raised or built into the side of a hill, which means you need to be accurate in direction and length. The 1st is a par 3 to start off, which is described by many to be the hardest starting hole to par in the county with a bank in front of the green and out of bounds to the right. The 2nd, 7th and 9th are uphill with the 15th steeply downhill. Some holes can be driven, for example the 16th, but beware, go off line and you are out of bounds.
Shrewsbury Golf Club
The pleasant undulating parkland setting offers members and visitors an 18 hole golf course and a large practice area and is situated in magnificent Shropshire countryside with fine views of the Stretton Hills and the Long Mynd to the south and Wenlock Edge to the east.
Arscott Golf Club
Massive old oak and beech trees grace the course along with the remains of long forgotten mining and brick making industries. Large pools on the 17th and 18th holes are evidence of the clay dug over 100 years ago for brickworks in nearby Cruckmeole and Hanwood. These pits now create very testing hazards on the last four holes, many golfers will tell you how they can change a winning card.
Ludlow Golf Course
Ludlow Golf Club was founded in 1889 and the course retains many of its original features with much of the course comparatively unchanged from that of 1889. We are the oldest course in the county union of Shropshire and Herefordshire. Visitors are very welcome to play our course, which is fairly flat and easy on the body.
