The proprietor is a founder-member of “Emporda Golf Club” and “Pals Golf course” and that gives him the very best connections to all other golf courses in the area: “Golf d’Aro-Mas Nou”,  “Costa Brava Golf Club” (2 courses) , “Catalunya PGA Golf” (2 courses) , “Torre Mirona Golf Club” and “Girona Golf Club”  all within 20/40 minutes drive. That makes “Mas Mauri” a true paradise for golfers of all abilities.

 

Having done a lot of golf trips in the past, Ramón –the proprietor- knows very well what party golfers like: good breakfast buffet at desired time, play top golf at nearby courses with lunch at the club house, sauna and shower or pool when back home, and then free disposal of beer, wine and all drinks close to a fireplace when in winter. The less they like: doing beds and putting the house in order; because of that: breakfast buffet, daily maid service and drinks are included in the price of the house for golfers. Guests are only asked to write down on a blackboard the drinks taken and we shall charge them on an only cost basis. AND SOMETHING REALLY IMPORTANT, WE HAVE THE VERY BEST GREEN FEE PRICES AT ALL NEARBY COURSES. LIVING AT “MAS MAURI” YOU WILL PLAY DAILY GOLF WITH AN AVERAGE PRICE OF 50 € PER GREEN FEE.

 

Situated 1 km off the little village of Regencós and 2 kms from the traditional old villages of Begur and Pals “Mas Mauri” is set in grounds of 3 hectares (6 acres) close to everything but far enough from crowded resorts and crowded roads. Summer tourists can enjoy in this part of central Costa Brava the wonderful seaside, the very old unspoiled villages and the top local food. Temperate climate winter, fall and spring gives “week break golfers” great conditions in the the most peaceful and beautiful scenery.

 

You will need a car to get to “Mas Mauri”. When flying, hire your car at the airport, we have three options for airports: *Girona Airport -40 km- with low-cost Ryanair flights to many European airports (some flights call this airport Barcelona-Girona); *Barcelona Airport -140 kms by highway up to three km of the house; *Perpignan Airport (France) -70 kms.

 

“Mas Mauri” is a very old XVII century rural house (masía) completely renovated but keeping all its authentic and original architecture. . This year new improvements have been made. Inside the 9 double rooms have now been transformed into 7 rooms all with en-suite bathrooms; beds and mattresses are all new and large size. Outside, garden has been transformed to a more ecological one that needs less irrigation; lawn has been changed to nicer “Bermuda lawn” to remind you of golf links, and olive and almond trees together with cypresses and palms lie on a very nice gravel bed. We irrigate garden, vegetable garden and fruit trees from our own well water. Around the pool we have created a large solarium in teak.

 

“Mas Mauri” has a very special housekeeper – Roberto- he takes care of garden and pool, vegetable garden, fruit trees around the house and poultry too. He doesn’t speak a word of foreign languages but he is very nice and if you get in good touch with him, he will offer you fresh eggs for breakfast, just collected tomatoes or lettuces, cherries or peaches or pears when in season. Roberto comes from the Gran Chaco area of Bolivia, Argentina and Paraguay and knows the best way to cook a wonderful “asado”.

 

Catalan food merits some words; considered nowadays best cooking in the world, local creator chefs like Ferrán Adriá and Joan Roca (3 stars each) have created a fantastic school followed by many restaurants in the area; we shall arrange for our guests to visit some of them for dinner, when desired. Nobody in Spain would expect a good dinner without a good wine, so “Mas Mauri” will provide an small bus with a driver to take you to the restaurant and drop you home later completely safe. Every day at breakfast time you will have the opportunity to choose from the different restaurant menus shown, the right place for dinner. This facility is offered to our guests as a courtesy with no charge at all.

 

If, during your stay, the weather conditions will make it difficult to play golf we shall recommend different possibilities: taking a visit to the beautiful old villages around; paying a visit to Salvador Dalí museum (35 minutes drive); taking a trip to wonderful Barcelona (1 hour an a half drive): Gothic district, Modernism tour, Picasso museum, Joan Miró museum and many other things in Barcelona. If you you prefer to stay home, Ramón, a good amateur chef, will cook a shellfish paella for everybody and will teach you to do this yourselves.

“Mas Mauri” offers two types of rentals:

Family Holidays from mid June to mid September

High Season.- July and August 4.200 € per week

Low Season.- from mid June to end June and from beginning Sept to mid Sept 3.400 € per week

 

Golf breaks golf parties from mid September to mid June (we close in January) check what we offer to “party golfers”. Green fees not included.

One week.- from Saturday 16:00 hours to Saturday 10:00 hours 4.200 €

Three days.- from Sunday 16:00 h to Wednesday 10:00 h and from Wednesday 16:00 h to Saturday 10:00 h 2.100 €

Empordá Golf Club *10 min drive Designer: Robert Von Hagge. 2 x 18 holes courses: “Links”: large dunes and lakes similar to best Scottish courses. “Forest”: lakes and pines, quite a Mediterranean style. Voted as one of best designed in continental Europe in 1996.

 

Pals Golf Course *10 min drive Designer: F.W. Hawtree. 18 holes course with a typical British style. By the sea, links over large dunes covered by huge pines (more than 70 years old). Inaugurated in 1966, Pals Golf was the very first one on Costa Brava.

 

Golf Serres de Pals * 10 min drive Designer: Ramón Espinosa. 18 holes course. Links over gentle hills with pines and cork trees. Pretty views over the sea, Medes Islands and Pyrenees Mountains.

 

Golf d’Aro-Mas Nou *20 min drive Designer: Ramón Espinosa. 18 holes course + 9 short holes. On the top of a large hill in the heart of nature and with spectacular views of Costa Brava, Les Gavarres and Montseny Mountains.

 

Costa Brava Golf Club *20 min drive Designer: Hamilton Stutt. 18 + 9 holes. The 18 first holes combine a very technical course in the first round with a more relaxed one in the second. Plenty of oak trees 100% mediterranean. A wonderful XIX century “masía” serves as the clubhouse.

 

Catalunya PGA Golf *35 min drive Designers: Angel Gallardo & Neil Coles. 2 x 18 holes courses: “The Tour” and “The Stadium”. Since opening celebration in 1999, both Catalunya PGA courses are becoming a must for good golfers. Fairways bordered by water and dense mature forest. Voted to be two of the best in Europe.

 

Torre Mirona Golf Club *40 min drive Designer: Eugenio Agüado. 18 holes course. An exclusive club designed and looked after down to the last detail. Outstanding lakes, wide greens and breathtaking views.

 

Girona Golf Club *40 min drive Designer: F.W Hawtree. 18 holes course. Only course in Spain sown with Penncross grass, an especially fine grass. Very peaceful and with stunning views to the mountains.
