Things to do
Golf nearby:
Stinchcombe Hill Golf Club
Stinchcombe Hill is a challenging golf course set on the southern edge of the Cotswold Escarpment above the Severn Valley. The late Henry Longhurst rated Stinchcombe Hill Golf Club among the top most scenic courses in Europe. The course was formed in 1889 but re-designed by Fred Hawtree and later by James Braid. An excellent test for both low and high handicap golfers but regardless of how well you play, you will enjoy the views.
Canons Court Golf Club
Nestled at the foot of the Cotswolds, this 9 hole course provides everything a golfer looks for. While not particularly long, its design ensures players of all abilities are tested as they progress round the course.
Cotswold Edge Golf Club
Cotswold Edge Golf Club is one of the most picturesque golf courses in the South West of England. Playable the whole year round, the challenging par 71 course enjoys stunning views from the top of the Cotswold escarpment, overlooking the historic market town of Wotton-under-Edge and Gloucestershire's Severn Vale, to the Brecon Beacons and the Malvern Hills beyond.
Celtic Manor Golf Resort
Roman Road Course: The Roman Road was the resort's first, opened in 1995,. Robert Trent Jones had to build around the many ancient Roman roads that traverse the land.
Montgomerie Course: The recently opened Montgomerie Course has been built using the land that formerly hosted the Coldra academy course, and Monty has used some of the original holes from the former Wentwood Hills Course.
Twenty Ten Course: The Ryder Cup Course has been built at the bottom of the valley, and as a result the surrounding hills serve as natural amphitheatres; the atmosphere at the 2010 matches was scintillating. With the course measuring 7,469-yards from the Championship markers, this is an examination that will test all who step out onto its lush fairways.
