John and Veronica Maclean extend a warm welcome to guests at their traditional, stone-built, Elgin bed and breakfast, which has been in the Maclean family since the middle of the 19th century.
Although the B&B is surrounded by highly productive farmland - John owns 500 acres on which he grows wheat, potatoes and especially malting barley for the local whisky industry, Westfield House is only 3 miles from the historic town of Elgin, with the ruins of its large 13th century cathedral, renowned biblical gardens and famous Elgin Museum.
Sandy beaches on the Moray Firth are a short drive away and the countryside around Spynie and Elgin is ideal for walking. Spynie Palace, former residence of the Bishops of Moray is well worth a visit. Further afield, the 'Malt Whisky Trail', taking in many great distilleries, is within easy driving distance, as is Inverness - gateway to world famous Loch Ness. John and Veronica have detailed knowledge and a love of the area and will ensure that their guests are able to derive maximum benefit from their stay.
Westfield House itself is sumptuously furnished in a traditional style - tartan carpeting in the hall, red carpeting in the dining room, an oak staircase displaying oil paintings and standards. In the winter an open fire welcomes guests into the sitting room.
The accommodation offers fine linen bedding, plump pillows and magnificent views over the countryside all combining to provide a bed and breakfast experience with atmosphere, comfort and relaxation.
For the energetic a tennis court is available at the B&B.
For those not wanting to venture out again after a day's exploration of the area, Veronica will provide dinner in a gorgeous traditional dining-room (with advance notice, please) alternatively, there are several pubs nearby.

Founded in 1906, Elgin Golf Club is a testing heathland course measuring 6449 yards, with par of 69, and a standard scratch of 71, fully justifying its claim to be one of the finest inland courses in the northern part of Scotland. The course, a test to low and high handicap players alike, is kept in immaculate condition by the green-staff and there is the added beauty of the view to the hills stretching to the distant Cairngorm Mountains.
The old course is considered to be one of the finest links courses in Scotland. A classic links designed by Old Tom Morris with deep revetted bunkers, undulating gorse lined fairways and smooth fast greens. It is a superb test of golf with seven par fours over 400 yards.
Garmouth and Kingston Golf Club
Garmouth & Kingston Golf Club was founded in 1932 and is situated on the west bank at the mouth of the River Spey. At 5903 yards with a standard scratch score of 69 it is not a too demanding course with excellent greens and stunning scenery. The 18 holes are played over a combination of parkland and links and provide an enjoyable challenge for all standards of players.
Originally a nine hole course, extended in 1985 making it probably one of the most demanding links courses in the North of Scotland. Most fairways are jealously guarded by gorse and broom, adding an additional challenge to members and visitors alike.
The newly opened 9 hole course sits at the end of its own windy road and the first glimpse of the course reveals it is nestled down in a stunning cove that joins the land to the sea. The course follows the contours of the cove, offering stunning views of the moray coast along the way.
Originally built as 9 holes, several years later, this course was extended to 18 holes,offering golfers an American style of play with two very different courses either side of the clubhouse.
Designed by Open Championship winners James Braid and Willie Park the Par 70 course is just less than 6300 yards from the tips providing a good test for golfers of all abilities. Forres Golf Course is a beautifully maintained, picturesque and interesting layout that will satisfy all who play it.
