The Glen Golf Club is one of the most popular of East Lothian golf courses. Whether you have played golf in Scotland before, or if this is your first visit, the Glen is a golfing venue not to be missed. This North Berwick East Links course enjoys superb views across the Firth of Forth and provides an enjoyable test of golf for all levels of player.
The West Links offers a unique golfing experience, and poses a true challenge for even the most proficient golfer. It is a true links course – steeped in history – and complete with traditional revetted bunkers, blind holes, drives over walls and burns together with magnificent views towards the sea.
Golf as it's meant to be. The great game but without any great fuss and bother. Here to be enjoyed by those who appreciate things done well. But never overdone.
The links were designed by Park and Sayers with minor modifications over the years. What is interesting, for example is that the first hole, par 3, is due north whilst the 2nd hole is the only par 5 and, when played into the prevailing wind from the south west, can play more like a par 6 or7!
Designed by the famous Open champion and golf architect, James Braid, a picturesque parkland course kept in tip-top shape and a treat to play, especially when you are coming into the home stretch on the last five holes.
Gullane Golf Club offers championship quality links courses with dramatic views across the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh and Fife. The three Courses do not have names but simply numbers which reflect their age.
Gullane No. 1 has a long history of hosting international Championship events and is an Open Championship Qualifying Course. Gullane No.2 has also been used for Open Championship Qualifying. Gullane No.3, whilst being the shortest, still provides a stern challenge for golfers of all abilities.
From the championship tees, the course stretches to a formidable 6,970 yards and still adds up to a par-70 6,601 yards off the medal tees. Although the thick rough and cavernous bunkers, of which there are 151, can make it a very severe test, it is a course which invokes respect from all who have tangled with it. Henry Cotton called it ‘cruelly fair’. Tom Watson said there was ‘not a weak hole on the course’
One can be astonished in middle age to walk off the 18th green feeling so invigorated and refreshed. The nature of the turf probably has something to do with this, being of the springy type which gives gently to the feet, like a rich Persian carpet. The sea air too has its beneficial qualities and the course is sensibly flat apart from minor undulations associated with seaside courses.
Well defined holes following the natural contours of a narrow strip of land between the old red sandstone deer park wall and the rocky shoreline are the hallmarks of these links. At a little over 6,500 yards, it is not the longest championship course. But any golfer thinking this equates to a lack of challenge will soon be put right.

There are plenty of interesting shops and cafes in North Berwick town centre - just two minutes walk away. Down the road is the harbour with the award winning Scottish Seabird Centre. Boat trips take you out to the islands, the largest of which is the bird sanctuary of the Bass Rock, There is also The Law to climb, giving you an unbeatable view of East Lothian and the Firth of Forth.

The lounge is flooded with light from two tall sash and case windows. Around a traditional style living flame fire are arranged comfortable armchairs and sofa. For your entertainment, there is a TV with satellite reception and DVD player, as well as a radio and CD player. Broadband connection and phone for incoming calls are also available. At one end of the room is a wooden dining table with seating for six. Up lighters and wall lamps create a very cosy atmosphere.
Off the sitting room is the large kitchen, with designer units, sleek granite worktops and Belfast sink. It is fully equipped and has a double Stoves electric oven, separate gas hob, large American style fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer, microwave and the usual toaster, kettle etc.
The twin bedroom has tall windows looking to the front, making it light and bright. Ample storage space is available in the large fitted wardrobes. There is a further bedroom at the front of the property with bunk beds, hanging space and a chest of drawers. The third bedroom, at the back of the property, also with bunk beds, has an in-built wardrobe with generous shelves. It also hosts a computer desk with chair and ready-to-use internet connection.
The large luxury bathroom offers a deep roll top bath, double walk-in shower, sink and wc with slate tiling to floor and walls. There is a heated towel rail in addition to under floor heating.

Good food is served all day everyday from 7.30am until 9pm Sunday – Thursday and until 10pm Fridays and Saturdays in a choice of Dining Areas.
The informal Jo’s Kitchen with its own Aga and farmhouse feel, a replica of a pioneering home style kitchen is great area for all ages. Children are made to feel particularly welcome and games, books, toys and drawing materials are provided to keep them happy while parents enjoy a relaxed meal.
The Bistro Bar and Conservatory offer elegant relaxed surroundings and the same good food. Jo’s Kitchen and the Conservatory can also be booked privately for Special Occasions as well as "The Gallery" upstairs - a delightful Private Dining Room which can seat up to 18 people. The Gallery always has a selection of pictures for sale, painted by local artists.
The Campbell Room, our more formal wood panelled dining room is perfect for wedding receptions, larger functions, meetings and conferences. It is usually however available in addition to all of the other areas for lunches on a Sunday unless it has been booked for a private function.

Bathrooms: You have one ensuite bathroom on first floor with a full size bath with electric shower over, heated towel rail and shaver point. In addition, there is a second original Victorian style bathroom and on the ground floor a cloakroom.

Tesco is only 5 minutes by car or they will deliver if you wish to stock up in advance.

For time “off the course” or for those on holiday wishing to sightsee, the Scottish Seabird Centre, harbour and boat trips to the Bass Rock are close by, along with a variety of interesting shops, galleries, cafes and scenic beach walks.
