CARVOEIRO

A typical Portugese fishermen's village that, in spite of its fast growth as a tourist attraction, has really kept its authentic character. The centre of the town has animation throughout the year and close by you will find lots of beautiful white sandy beaches surrounded by spectacular cliffs, some of the most beautiful golf courses, tennis courts and many other sports facilities.

In the Carvoeiro area there are lots of both typical Portugese and international restaurants and there are also many interesting and historical places to visit within the region.

Vale de Milho (9-hole)

As 70% of the game of golf is decided with approach and putting, the course has been specifically designed to test and improve a players skills in these areas. The greens are built to provide a very consistent putting surface, and are also especially receptive to a well struck shot.

Gramacho Golf Course

In the traditional undulating landscape of the Algarve, full of almond and carob-trees,the course is played to 18 large double greens, giving the player a different perspective on each of the rounds

Vale da Pinta Golf Course

Imagine the fairways of Bermuda grass, strategically placed sand bunkers, and greens clad in Pen Cross Bent grass. Not to mention ornamental lakes in a rolling terrain dotted with carob, fig, almond and olive trees (including one olive tree over 1200 years old!)

Silves Golf Course

This course is for players - low handicaps will find it a serious challenge to come in under par. But high handicaps (with concentration) will be able to enjoy their round. Most holes offer spectacular mountain views overlooking palm trees and olive groves, the surrounding cork and citrus farms generate a true feeling of authentic Portuguese golf.

Alto Golf Club

The 18-hole course was the last to be designed by the late Sir Henry Cotton. It is set in parklands, with views to the sea and to the Monchique hills. It is well-maintained but compact, with several of the fairways servicing more than one hole. The most memorable hole is the “Henry Cotton challenge” or “giant” 605 metre sixteenth.

Casa Luiz (formerly Casa Brigitte) in Carvoeiro, consists of four rooms, studios and apartments for holiday rental. Situated on the edge of a cliff offering uninterrupted views across the Atlantic Ocean and the West coastline of Portugal , it enjoys some of the most spectacular sunsets for you to relax to in the early evening whilst drinking your favourite sun-downer. Your host Luis will be on hand to ensure that all your needs are met.

Carvoeiro is considered a privileged fishing village, not over-developed and probably the prettiest village in the Algarve with picturesque bays, sandy beaches dramatic cliffs to stroll along and a multitude of beaches, caves and grottos to explore. For the discerning golfer and tennis lover, close by are the three well-known golf courses of Pinta, Gramacho and Vale do Milho, as well as the well known “Carvoeiro Tennis Club”. With good shopping facilities and an exceptional variety of restaurants catering for all tastes the area provides visitors with the perfect holiday destination.

From the apartments, the beach is a two minute stroll down the hill, as are all the amenities you need to make your holiday as stress free and transport free as possible.

Accommodation:

Room 1 , Room 2: All are situated on the 1st floor and are around 25 squares metres both with balconies offering direct sea views. Equipped with double beds, own private bathrooms, TVs, fridges, microwaves, coffees makers, toasters, kettles and cutlery.

Studio 5: Situated on entrance level, covering 30 square metres, with its own private balcony and direct sea view. It consists of a fully equipped kitchen, dining table, TV, and seating that could accommodate one extra sleeping person, with its own outside private bathroom on entrance level.

Apartment 10: Situated at the top. It is the largest of all, covering 40 square metres of open area with its own private entrance and balcony as well direct sea view. Lounge with additional sofa/bed, dining room, private bathroom, complete kitchen as well as TV and DVD player. The air conditioning also works as a heater for the winter.

All rooms have double beds (in 10 they can be separated), and fan blowers/heaters (for the winter). Rooms are cleaned regularly or on request.

Vale de Pinta has earned its place as one of the best designed courses in Europe.

Gramacho Golf Course

In the traditional undulating landscape of the Algarve, full of almond and carob-trees, Gramacho is played to 18 large double greens, giving the player a different perspective on each of the rounds. Gramacho seems to be a short course, but as matter of fact it totals 6,107 metres and it is a par 72 off the back tees, and a good challenge for whoever would like to imagine himself playing the double greens of St. Andrews.

Vale de Milho Golf Course

Getting to us

With regular flights to the nearest airport, Faro, and even more to Lisbon , only 2 hours 30 minutes away, access is easy. The nearest town is Lagoa ; Carvoeiro is about 4 km south and is well sign-posted. There are good new motorways in Portugal ; the A2 connects Lisbon with the Algarve and the A22 runs right along the Algarve .
