Tucked away within the conservation district of the medieval Cinque Port of Sandwich is this delightful and romantic cottage that offers modern comfort whilst maintaining its grade II listed character.
Sandwich is perfectly position for visiting the area, has a shingle beach, bird observatory and golf courses within walking distance, and many other beaches and historic buildings within a short driving distance, plus it is on a river which has a river bus. The area is good for cycling and has some beautiful walks of varying lengths, some starting right outside the cottage.
Sun Cottage is available throughout the year for weekly holiday lets, although shorter breaks may be possible.
Furnished with many antiques, Sun Cottage is set back from the road so has no traffic passing in front of its windows, making it more peaceful and private. It has a cosy atmosphere although is far more spacious than the average cottage.
Equipped with full central heating, the cottage also has a log effect gas fire in the sitting room to give instant real flames and extra heat without the mess.
It is an ideal place for a couple to get away to, although if separate or extra sleeping arrangements are needed the sofabed can be used in the sitting room. Access to the newly refitted bathroom is via the bedroom on the first floor.

The small garden has many flowering plants and the spacious roof terrace off French doors from the bedroom gets the sun throughout most of the day. Both areas are well screened to be more private.

Royal St Georges, Sandwich
A classic links course and home to 14 British Opens -- most recently in 2003 won by Ben Curtis -- Sandwich, as it is also known, features fairways that weave through large sandy mounds covered with fescue. Because it is nearly treeless and completely exposed to the winds coming off the North Sea, controlling shots can be extremely tough. The eighth hole, a 453-yard par 4, features one of the largest, deepest bunkers in golf, having been carved out of the side of a hill.

The Deal course is traditionally laid out on a narrow stretch of land extending to Sandwich Bay, and the natural links terrain has been subtly used to provide a wide variety of challenges. On almost every hole there is an abundance of large sand dunes which establishes the undulating character of the course and makes it unique. Unlike most other courses the fairways are just as undulating and it is seldom that a completely flat stance can be obtained other than on the tees. As with all traditional seaside links, the wind is a major factor which has to be taken into account when deciding on club and shot selection.

Ticehurst is in the heart of the south east England countryside and is on the East Sussex and Kent border, just to the south of Bewl Water, the largest inland water mass in the south of England. It is a short drive to the south coast towns of Hastings, Rye and Camber. Royal Tunbridge Wells is to the north. Dale Hill Golf Club neighbours the pub.
We took over in September of 2009 and have hopefully returned the Cherry Tree to an inviting village pub.
At The Cherry Tree we welcome families. Soon we are hoping to develop extra facilities for children, which will include children’s play equipment and a pets corner - yes animals - rabbits, Kune Kune pigs, guinea pigs and other species. We will let you all know when this is completed. Dogs are welcome in the bar area, providing they keep their owners under control.
We have an extensive and varied menu, with childrens portions available and food will be available all day during the summer months. There is accommodation available in the form of three bed and breakfast rooms. A small function room is available for meetings or private dining. The Dale Hill Course, since opening in 1973, has become one of the southeast's foremost courses. The front nine is parkland, whilst the back nine is heavily wooded, challenging even the more experienced golfers. 18 holes. Par 70. 5856 yards.
The Ian Woosnam Course was Constructed in 1997 to USGA specifications and is a par 72, 6512-yard course demanding and rewarding accuracy off the tee. There are many spectacular challenges throughout the course including the 16th, a tightly wooded hole across a deep, vegetation filled gully requiring an unerring shot up over a rough-filled gully to a tricky green.

Deluxe Bed & Breakfast is offered in our main House. The accommodation comprise three 1st floor generous luxury Junior Suites and two ground floor very high quality Bedrooms. Two suites & one of the rooms have Super King-size pocket sprung luxury divan beds (that can be converted to twin singles if preferred). The third suite has a king-sized divan and the other bedroom has twin beds. All have ample storage and are furnished with top textiles and decorations. The suites each have a comfortable sitting area. All rooms & suites have a flat screen TV equipped with digital Freeview and built in DVD player as well as a tea & coffee making facilities. Each suite has a large private bathroom ensuite with full bath and 'drench' shower. One bedroom has a bathroom with full bath and 'drench' shower the other a large walk-in drench shower.
Of course each has unsurpassed views of our three acres of gardens, the Ditchling Beacon, & the South Downs National Park.
All our B&B guests have free use of our year round indoor Swimming pool, Sauna and hot tub. There is a large & sumptuous guest lounge with Inglenook Fireplace which has room for all our guests and their visitors to meet and chat or read at one end and at the other end there is a 50 inch flat screen TV with further seating for about six people. We have a richly appointed Dining room in which we serve the full English Breakfast daily and which can be booked (at least 24 hours in advance) to serve meals for parties of 6 to 16 people.
As we are fully licensed we can provide drinks in the Lounge and at such a pre-booked lunch or dinner party. There is ample parking for all our guests and their visitors. The ambiance is quiet understated luxury in a family country home setting. Up to two Children can share in parents suites or one in the Ash room in the B&B one travel cot offered subject to availability.
Indoor swimming Pool hot tub & Sauna is included for the B&B guests only. Wifi broadband internet access is supplied to all rooms. There is plenty of private off street parking for guests. Tovey Lodge & Cottage is a no smoking environment.
Cottage Accommodation
Our small pretty Cottage offers Self-Catering accommodation with one double bedroom with Freeview colour TV and en suite bathroom.
There is a comfortable L-shaped living/dining room. The sitting area has a colour TV with Freeview and a DVD player. There are two small (two-seater) sofa-beds that can sleep two adults (one on each) or up to four very young children, so although compact, it is ideally suited for a couple with or without children (although up to 4 adults can be accommodated if they can cope with the en suite bathroom). The dining area is furnished with a solid pine table and chairs. There is space for a cot if required & one travel cot is offered subject to availability. There is a fully equipped, small fitted kitchen.
Guests have use of a private garden and a washing machine and tumble dryer with iron & ironing board.
Well behaved dogs are welcome. Tovey Lodge & Cottage is a no smoking environment. There is plenty of parking space. There is a WiFi broadband connection to the internet. All linens (not baby bedding for the cot) and towels as well as heating and equipment is included - all you need to bring is your clothes and food!!
Although the indoor swimming pool sauna and hot-tub are not included family passes are available for our Cottage guests.

The 18 hole Par 70 course is set against the backdrop of the South Downs. It has been designed and contoured to blend naturally with the gentle undulations of the surrounding countryside. This Wonderful Railway Carriage Conversion is in a Peaceful Location on the Seafront - Sleeps 8 (4 Bedrooms)
Seabank is positioned right on the sea front - it's actually as close to the beach as you can get. There is an enclosed verandah with wonderful uninterrupted sea views and an open plan kitchen. There are two double bedrooms, one twin bedroom (bunk beds) and another twin bedroom with bunk and cot or bed.
The house is built around two lovingly restored 19th century Stroudley railway carriages. They were originally used on the Brighton to London line and then after the First World War converted into holiday homes along the Sussex coast. Each of the coaches at Seabank has been carefully adapted to make the most of the original features creating cosy and quirky living spaces.

Beauport Park Golf Club – 10 minutes
Situated between the towns of Hastings and Battle, this 18-hole 6,325-yard parkland course is a 'must visit' on your trip to Sussex. The course is fairly traditional and is mapped out in two halves. The front nine is a true test of golf for all levels of player, with the majority of holes requiring careful positional play from the tee.
Battle Golf Club - 15 minutes
Battle Golf Club is situated in the heart of "1066 Country" just two miles from the historic town of Battle, infamous for the site of the "Battle of Hastings" in East Sussex. The course is well maintained offering relaxed yet challenging golf and stands in an elevated position in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Rye Golf Club - 15 minutes
Harry Colt’s first design in 1894, later modified by Tom Simpson and Sir Guy Campbell, Rye is a fiendishly difficult course. The unpredictable and fierce winds and a fascinating variety of stances necessary for shot-making create difficulty, despite a par of 68 over 6,300 yards.
Weald of Kent Golf Club - 25 minutes
Since opening in 1991 the course has matured into an interesting parkland retreat, with a growing reputation for fast, true greens. With a variety of man made and natural lakes and hazards the Weald of Kentvis a challenge to golfers of all abilities. The well maintained, generous fairways are forgiving enough for the novice to enjoy a round but the slick putting surfaces and strategically positioned bunkers and water features will test even the most competent of players.

Woodside is a rural retreat, located near the tiny village of Cripps Corner, in the picturesque High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in the heart of the countryside of East Sussex, bordering Kent. It is perfectly located just 10-25 minutes from the tourist orientated towns of Battle, Robertsbridge, Rye, Bodiam, Tenterden, Goudhurst and Tunbridge Wells and only 15 minutes from the seaside resorts of Hastings and Camber sands. The area is steeped in history and boasts an array of historic castle, houses, gardens and places of interest. The Medieval village of Robertsbridge itself is just a short 8 minute drive.
Our Goal is to make you feel thoroughly pampered and spoilt. Our two luxury suites are almost decadent in their attention to detail and with the Health Suite and Beauty Treatments on offer you can be sure that you will leave a lot more relaxed than when you arrived. Our meals whether breakfast or evening meal are all freshly made using local ingredients where possible and our gardens and woods mean that you can enjoy a stroll without even leaving the property. Finally, you can relax in our cinema room and watch your favourites on the big screen! There are many wonderful tourist attractions in this area including the historic towns of Rye, Battle and Hastings.
We provide trays of goodies in the rooms including; mineral water, biscuits, chocolates, flowers and a luxury toiletries basket. We are licensed and so the rooms also contain minibars with an assortment of drinks. We also provide fluffy robes as well as soft bath sheets and high quality bedding with a choice of pillows including Duck Down, Hypo Allergenic, Hollow Fibre, Memory Foam and even Anti-Snore!
We have a sweet little restaurant for our B&B guests to partake of our delicious home cooked breakfasts. We can also deliver breakfasts to our 'Glamping' guests at their Tipis or the Yurt.
We also offer many special menus for special occasions like birthday parties, weddings, Valentines Day, Christmas, and corporate events so please talk to us about any special needs you may have. We can cater for up to 50 guests at any one time.
At Woodside we are all lovers of good food and thoroughly enjoy cooking on our Heritage Range.
Breakfast is a feast - we offer a comprehensive selection of fresh produce (local, home made or home grown, where possible) to keep you sustained throughout the day. Eggs are free range from our duck and chickens. (Our own eggs do not have the Lion mark, if you prefer you may have shop purchased, Lion marked eggs.)
Take your breakfast in the Guests' Dining Room, where you can read a paper or hop onto the internet to check your emails and plan your day, or on the large patio if the weather is kind! Chose to eat either on your own or with other guests. Served at 8am for those wishing to make full use of the day and as 9am for those that wish to have a lie in or make early use of the facilities. If you are residing in the Gothic
Suite and fancy having breakfast before you dress, then you can take it leisurely in your room.
We are more than happy to provide Dinner, lunch and afternoon cream teas. Do take a look at our sample A La Carte and Seasonal menus. We also hold an alcohol licence so we can serve you with competitively priced aperitifs, wines, sparkling wines, champagne, liquors and cocktails.

We are very lucky to be able to offer a massage by Jo. Jo has had over 20 years experience in health and fitness. Her studies started out with an Honours Degree in Creative Arts and a Post-graduate in Teaching. She became involved in the 'Fitness Industry' due to her love of sports, being a keen multi-sporter and triathlete. Over the years she has taken a number of diplomas and certificates such as Sports Massage Therapy and Rehabilitation (Dip.Honours), Mind/Body Awareness Teacher (incorporating Pilates & Yoga. Thai Yoga Massage (Certified) as well as on going courses in various modalities.
Cinema
There is Sky multiroom so guests can view what they wish and also a DVD with a selction of films, WII with WII Sports, WII Fit, Golf and other games and a Playstation with a variety of games, all set up through the 9ft screen for your maximum entertainment and enjoyment.
In the Guest Lounge you will find complimentary tea and coffee making facilites and mini fridges containing a selection of alcoholic drinks, and non alcoholic juices, sodas and snacks for purchase.
Many other games are also provided, including a selection of board games, chess, cards, darts etc.
Garden
We have 5 acres of land at Woodside so that there is plenty of room to wander around the gardens and make friends with our sheep. There are also some woods and a stream to explore.
GLAMPING
If you are looking for something completely different then why not try our 'Glamping' breaks. This is like a really luxurious form of camping but in a Tipi or Yurt. You have hard floors, proper beds ( 4ft 6" plus one double or two single futons.) - even electricity. However, you are still 'under canvas' in the Tipi and can enjoy all the fun without any of the discomfort often associated with camping.
This can also be great for groups where some can sleep out and the others can stay in the B&B.
We are now extending our 'Glamping' season until 2nd December and from October bookings will include electric blankets and 15 tog duvets with matching colour coded linen in the price.

Woodside is ideally placed to explore Sussex especially East Sussex!
We are located in the centre of a triangle between the historic towns of Rye, Battle and Hastings so that visiting the many attractions in the area should not prove to be any sort of problem! If you like to spend your days exploring the towns then there are plenty to see. Likewise there are many historic castles and gardens in this area. However, if you prefer to sit on the beach or play golf then we are extremely well situated for both activities and can provide much information to assist you in planning your holiday.

East Sussex National Golf Club
Two stunning championship golf courses in the heart of Sussex. The East Course is a 7,081 yard stadium layout, designed for tournament play. It has been the setting for many important tournaments – notably the European Championship on two occasions.
The West Course meanders through stands of ancient oak, along quiet pools and streams. The par 72 West Course stretches 7,154 unforgettable yards.
Built in 1896 atop chalk hills in the heart of Sussex, the elevated course winds it way through rolling south coast countryside, with picturesque views of the South Downs and the historic town from which it gets its name. On a clear day it is possible to pick out landmarks in the Sussex Weald and as far as the North Downs. This downland track is very much a traditional test and, as it is built on chalk soil, it is playable throughout the year without the need for temporary greens or tees. At more than 6,200 yards it is by no means a pushover with its sloping lies, especially if the wind gets up.
Haywards Heath Golf Club is a traditional parkland course with stunning views over the South Downs and towards Ashdown Forest. This excellently maintained course provides a challenge for the low handicap player, whilst proving manageable and enjoyable for the less experienced golfer.
Crowborough Beacon extends a warm welcome to golfers who wish to play one of the most picturesque inland courses in the south of England. Although over 100 years old the course is still recognised as one of the best heathland courses in the South with more and more golfers discovering its delights
The course is set in surprisingly mature parkland and features superbly contoured greens, interesting natural water hazards and a host of strategically placed bunkers. It is maintained year round to a high standard, without the need for temporary tees and greens.
Set in the heart of the South Downs National Park, laid out on two rolling ridges and in the valley between. These peaceful surroundings offer a challenging course with magnificent views of the Sussex Weald with its famous windmills Jack and Jill.

We are the oldest golf club and only links course to be found in West Sussex. The course is a good challenge to any golfer and, due to its nature and excellent drainage, is open all year round.

Virtually every hole is played in splendid – and beautiful – isolation, and in harmony with nature.......There is subtlety here, a measure of drama, and a wealth of that one indispensable ingredient, pleasurable excitement......No wonder it may be the most beloved inland course in the British Isles. All that being said, there are those who like the New Course, which opened in 1923, at least as well…The New is perhaps a bit more rugged than the Old. This is rich and handsome and challenging golf.
