Farway, set in an area renowned for its outstanding natural beauty is within easy reach of some lovely beaches at Beer and Branscombe and also Farway Countryside Park situated at Colyton with breathtaking views, a wonderful nature trail and lots of animals including a “nursery” or enjoy pony rides and even pig and ferret racing.
This area is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty with the Heritage Coast and the towns of Sidmouth, Seaton and Lyme Regis all within a short drive, along with some lovely beaches at Beer and Branscombe. The tiny village of Farway with its ancient Church and ford is within walking distance, the City of Exeter is approximately 20 minutes drive and the market town of Honiton is 4 miles away. There is an excellent pub close by which is open all day for food and beverages.
Idehill Cottages
These 3 delightful cottages are situated in a magnificent position overlooking the Coly Valley within 50 acres of private land, much of which is now a fabulous 18 hole golf course being exclusively for the use of guests staying in the cottages and also the owners who reside in the farmhouse. The views are nothing less than spectacular and even if one is not a golfer, just to sit on a hill amid this lovely peaceful setting is a very restful and enjoyable experience, during which time you might spot a wide variety of birds and local wildlife of deer, pheasants, rabbits to name but a few. The cottages are fully centrally heated, are very comfortable, have wonderful views and along with the shared grounds, each has its own personal patio/sitting out area with garden furniture and a barbecue.
Facilities (all included in the price)
The 5,638 yard golf course, completed in 2006 is not particularly long, but it is a true test of golf and challenges the golfer both in terms of accuracy, shot making and strategy. Please do not expect to find Wentworth, but it is a beautiful and entertaining course that provides an interesting game of golf during a peaceful and tranquil walk through nature.
It has splendid views from each of its 18 holes and we believe it is undoubtedly unique for a holiday cottage to have the enjoyment of a private course, particularly one of such interest and beauty. It provides a wonderful opportunity for both the keen golfer and also the total novice to "have a go" without any feeling of intimidation. The course has 6 par 3's, 3 par 5's and the unusual distinction of having a par 6, where 4 excellent shots are required to find the green. It would be most unusual if there were more than 6 to 8 people on the course at any one time and there is a good likelihood that players would actually have the course completely to themselves. A golf buggy can be hired for a reasonable fee from the owners if required. Bring your own golfing equipment, alternatively, clubs can be hired and balls purchased from the local golf club.
Farview Cottage Accommodation:
Aptly named, this cottage has wonderful far reaching views from the sitting room and its own small private garden. A cosy little cottage, ideal for a couple and although small, can accommodate a family of five. Open plan split level room with sitting area with cane sofa and chairs, TV, video, French doors to patio. A couple of stairs up to dining area with table and chairs. Small kitchen with gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge with ice box, washer/ dryer machine under the stairs. Bathroom with bath with central taps, hand-held shower attachment, basin set in vanity unit and WC. Stairs up to first floor. Bedroom with large 5'6" bed and further 3' single bed. Second bedroom with single (or very small double) 3'8" bed. Both bedrooms have fitted cupboards, velux windows and sloping pine ceilings (if standing, limited headroom in places). Gas central heating.

Honiton Golf Club - Par 69 5910 Yards
Honiton Golf Club is a lovely course set high in the hills to the east of Honiton town with splendid views across to the Blackdowns. Established in 1896 the greens are maintained in excellent condition as are the fairways.
Axe Cliff Golf Club
Axe Cliff is an 18 hole, Par 70, 5969 yards challenging course, very hilly with many blind holes, plenty of narrow fairways, testing greens which are closely guarded by a clutch of large, unforgiving bunkers and some thick rough to avoid. The course itself is in tremendous condition and is playable throughout the year.
