Rising up out of the river Dart, opposite the historic naval town of Dartmouth, is Kingswear home of the Royal Dart Yacht Club. A castle defends the mouth of the river and the town, a short drive from the attractions of Torbay, boasts its own steam railway, which runs along the River Dart to Paignton. Car and passenger ferries run regularly between Kingswear and Dartmouth. Just five minutes drive from the picturesque and historic Port of Dartmouth . The famous Blackpool Sands are a mile to the south of Broome Court and the Dartmouth Golf and Country Club a five minute drive away.  The cottages flank one side of the courtyard and are all tastefully and thoughtfully decorated and furnished to a high standard. The owners live on the other side of the courtyard and can provide bed and breakfast in their five Diamond accommodation for additional guests by arrangement.

Claremont House, a late 19th century sea captains residence, nestles amongst the traditional housing that makes up Above Town, a narrow street running parallel to the river that enjoys spectacular views over the neighbouring rooftops to the busy river Dart and to the pretty town of Kingswear on the other side. This wonderful reverse level property, recently refurbished by the owners to a very high standard, retains many of the original features, whilst still offering spacious and welcoming accommodation. Equipped with comfortable furniture and modern fixtures, including gas fired central heating with radiators in every room, this property is suitable for families, couples or up to 8 visitors

Pound Barn is one of an attractive, small group of select residential properties all originally the farm buildings of Lower Norton Farm that nestle in a valley on the outskirts of Dartmouth. Churston Golf Club
The course is laid out on a long strip of typical downland turf that stretches westward along the cliffs towards Brixham. The ground is boldly undulating in character with no lack of natural features, and the surroundings are much more richly diversified than are usually to be found on the courses of the cliffs.

Torquay Golf Club
An interesting mature 18 hole parkland course established in 1908 with many challenging holes, some with superb views across Lyme Bay. Set within easy reach from the centre of Torquay the course is an excellent test for golfers of all abilities.

he George Inn, Blackawton is well known in the area as a very pleasant, traditional village local with a warm welcome and is popular with locals and visitors alike. The main bar is partly timbered and the dining room has double bi-fold double-glazed doors with fine views across open countryside towards the sea. These provide access to a patio, the car park and beyond that a pleasant, quiet garden, divided into a lawned area with children's swings and a gravelled area with tables and seating.

The George Inn, Blackawton holds a "Bronze" award after an environmental audit by the Green Tourism Business Scheme. Checkout our entry in the 2012 Good Beer Guide, we are extremely pleased to be back in this CAMRA guide after an undeserved one year's absence!

Blackawton is buried in a maze of lanes about 4 miles north of Slapton. A lovely village with a real community spirit, an excellent primary school, a little shop cum Post Office and church, a well used Village Hall, it is a previous winner of the CPRE's “Best Kept Village” competition and host to the annual International Festival of Worm Charming held every early May Bank Holiday weekend (on the Sunday).

Accommodation

Our accommodation, rated as 3 star *** by "Quality In Tourism" for "Vist England", is clean and comfortable, and comprises 3 double rooms and a family room which may be configured as a premium rate double or twin - all rooms have en-suite shower facilities, and have hot drink facilities, TV & hair dryers.  All our guest bedrooms are on the first floor. The George Inn, Blackawton is an old building with fairly steep, narrow stairs. Therefore disabled access is not the easiest.

Room prices include a varied, full English breakfast and V.A.T. -our tariff is dependent on season:

Food:  We recently signed up to "Taste of the West" to celebrate our commitment to using local produce and local suppliers. A wide variety of food is available both lunchtime 12 noon to 2 p.m. and 6 - 9 pm. evening (7pm. to 9pm. Sunday). Our Sunday roast lunch offers to advance bookings their preferred choice of roast, comes with all the trimmings and is "table service" rather than a carvery. Our extensive menu features local produce, freshly cooked and includes pizza, chicken korma, sizzling skillet dishes, an excellent vegetarian choice and a variety of home-baked desserts. The “specials menu” changes weekly and offers home baked pies, pasta and locally caught, seasonal fish.
 

Drink:  A great selection of cask ales on offer will certainly include those from local brewers Dartmoor (Princetown) and Teignworthy (Newton Abbott) - often alongside guest ales selected from the many other craft brewers in and around the South Hams and the wider West Country. Our BEER FESTIVALS in early May and late August always feature some of the best cask ales from West Country breweries. We are proud of our WINE LIST, offering as it does a balanced and affordable range of wines from around the world.

Attached on one side the cottage is set in the heart of the beautiful and very popular village of Slapton that has everything one could need from a stunning three mile beach half a mile down the road; a National Nature Reserve and wonderful doorstep walks around the corner; two good pubs and a well stocked village store are within a short stroll.

This enchanting old world listed cottage (16th Century) is in the tiny, very peaceful, hamlet of Start just a mile from the charming village of Slapton, well known for its national nature reserve and beautiful three mile shingle beach. The picturesque village boasts two excellent, child friendly pubs and a thriving village store. Start Cottage is delightful, full of charm with unusual nooks and crannies, ancient beams, yet has been completely restored and provides extremely comfortable accommodation with a pretty, sunny garden commanding lovely views overlooking a wooded valley with glimpses of Slapton Ley in the distance.

Slapton is a deservedly popular village with pretty thatched cottages, two good pubs a village shop and all just 1/2 mile from the outstandingly beautiful three mile stretch of shingle beach at Slapton Sands and the equally lovely freshwater Ley, now a National Nature Reserve, a haven for birdwatchers and walkers alike. Wren's Nest is tucked in the heart of the village down a quiet private narrow lane that leads to just 3 cottages. The property is a conversion from a fine old barn, and is attached to a similar barn on one side. It is immaculate, delightfully furnished and decorated and provides very good, comfortable accommodation in a quiet position in this charming village.

Buckland Court is located in delightful countryside 1.5 miles from the historic village of Slapton with its world famous nature reserve, 3 mile beach and excellent real ale pubs. Dartmouth and Kingsbridge are within 15 minutes drive, both with interesting shops, fine restaurants, boat trips, sailing and much more. Totnes, a quaint Elizabethan town is 9 miles away and Dartmoor, with wonderful walking and spectacular scenery is within easy reach. Buckland Court is well situated for a wide range of indoor and outdoor pursuits including golf. 

The cottages are set around a pretty lower courtyard with summer hanging baskets, a shady mimosa tree and benches. They are very comfortable and well furnished.  

Beeches Accommodation 
Beeches Cottage is the largest at Buckland Court, has full central heating and sleeps 6 to 8 people in three bedrooms with full-size beds, and a sofa bed in the living room. Beeches Cottage's spacious living and dining accommodation means that it can be used in conjunction with neighbouring cottages as the base for larger parties and yet it is cosy enough for intimate family holidays.

The Accommodation
Three Bedrooms/Two Bathrooms The Lodge sleeps 6-8 inc cot and Z bed.

Ground floor :Light and airy open plan room divided into two distinct areas. The charming sitting room is well furnished with sofas, chairs, 32inch digital TV, CD/DVD & VHS player and wood burner. Casement doors open onto the enclosed private garden from both the dining room and the sitting room ends. The well-equipped fitted kitchen area has a fitted stainless steel Neff hob and built-in oven, microwave, washer/dryer, dishwasher, tall fridge/freezer, bread maker and a large dining table to seat 8

First floor : 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. There are two double bedrooms, one with a canopied double bed and fitted furniture, the second with twin beds and pine furniture, both with digital TV, one with an Ipod dock, onewith a radio. Bedroom three is a small children's room with twin beds. Both bathrooms are modern and fully tiled, each with a wc, handbasin, bath and shower. There is a travel cot and Z bed available.

Outside : In front of the cottage is a pleasant garden area, perfect for the evening sun. The rear garden has an herbaceous border, lawn and patio with ample teak furniture, canopied swing seat and BBQ for al fresco dining. The privacy of this SW garden makes it perfect for private sunbathing and
entertaining.

On Site Facilites:
The superb on-site facilities include an excellent indoor heated swimming pool, a fitness gymnasium containing a good range of equipment, a very attractive good sized outdoor swimming pool (heated mid May to mid September), a newly re-surfaced all weather tennis court, basket ball net, football, table-tennis, boules, and croquet lawn.

Within easy walking distance there is an excellent pub serving great food and beer a well stocked shop for provisions. The nearest of many beautiful sandy beaches is 6 miles away at Bigbury Bay (next to the golf course!) leading to the famous Burgh Island and the atmospheric Pilchard Inn. This is a great place to windsurf, kite-surf or body-board, but also very safe to potter around rock-pooling or join the coastal footpath walk. Alternatively head North and you'll be in the wilds of Dartmoor in 15 Minutes.

There's a smile in the welcome for new members and guests alike - and a stiff challenge in the 18-hole, 6000-yard, par-70 golf course. That is assuming you can tear your eyes away from the views in all directions: Dartmoor to the north, Burgh Island to the west, and on the eastern flank, Bantham Beach and the winding River Avon 

Thurlestone Golf Club
Situated right on the coast, the course is a mix of links and cliff-top terrain. The course is well-draining and rarely suffers from frost, so it is rarely closed due to bad weather. The course measures 6230 yards from the White Tees, whilst the ladies are faced with 5538 yards. Spectacular views may be enjoyed from every hole on the course, which provides a challenge to all levels of golfer, especially when the wind blows.

Wrangaton Golf Club
Our course is unique - 9 moorland and 9 parkland holes. It is very much a course of two halves and there is nothing else like it in Devon! Wrangaton started in 1895 when a 9 hole golf course was established on the southern slopes of Dartmoor. An additional 9 holes were added in 1988, and Donald Steel, designer of the world famous Loch Lomond golf course, laid out these parkland holes.
