Ivyleaf Barton self catering holiday cottages are located just outsideBude, Cornwall and sleep between 2 and 8 people. They are rated overall 4 stars by English Tourist Board, with Ivyleaf Barton itself rated 5 star. The cottages are available all year round and some take pets by arrangement. Prices include bed linen and electricity and full gas central heating for Ivyleaf Barton and Courtside.

All the cottages have both TV/DVD and CD/Radio/DAB players. Guests have the use of an all weather tennis court and the cottages are adjacent to a 9 hole golf course/driving range/mountain board slope.

The Cottages are located in an exclusive residential area with lawned areas making an ideal safe location for families, approximately 3 miles north of Bude. They enjoy an elevated position with stunning views over both the coast towards Bude Bay and in the distance to Trevose Head and also the north Cornish countryside to Bodmin.

We have teamed up with Hartland House SPA and can now offer mobile massage and spa treatments in your cottage whilst staying with us - there is a minimum charge based on 1 hr 20 min of treatments but that can be shared amonst more than one guest. The well known surfing beaches at Sandymouth Bay and Summerlease beach are both ten minutes' drive away.

About Ivyleaf Cottages

We have seven self catering cottages, including Ivyleaf Barton house itself. All cottages have a patio and BBQ area (BBQ's provided free of charge).

Linhay and Byre are single storey cottages both rated 4 star sleeping 2 in a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom. Linhay was refitted in 2008 and now boasts a super ensuite shower room with large easy access shower. The sitting room and open plan kitchen make it a smart bolt hole for romantic getaway breaks and the LCD TV, CD/DAB radio and feature electric fire make it cosy during colder months

Barn and Mill are 2 storey cottages sleeping 4 overlooking the golf course and the coast

Both have a double bedroom with a second bedroom in Barn has a pair of full size bunk beds and Mill has a twin bedded room. The kitchens are well equipped and include a dishwasher and microwave in addition to the full size cooker LCD TV and DVD player

Courtside is a modern luxury cottage sleeping 3-4 people on 2 floors with a contemporary feel with black leather sofas and dining chairs. It has a fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, fridge freezer and washer/dryer. The fully tiled shower-room/wc is also on the ground floor. Upstairs is a double bedroom and a bedroom with single bed and pull out secondary bed. These bedrooms have been converted from a loft space and have velux windows and some restricted headroom.

Stables is a single storey cottage sleeping 6 in two double bedrooms (one ensuite) and a twin bedded room. Stables has wide access doors and this makes it ideal for guests wanting to be on a single level with easy parking close by. It is en excellent choice if your party includes less mobile members. You can jump out of bed and straight onto the golf course for a quick round before breakfast. Stables has a private garden patio area with BBQ facing west towards the coast and the first tee

Granary is again a split level cottage sleeping 6 in two double bedrooms and a twin bedded room.

Again the kitchen area is as well equipped as Barn and Mill.

Ivyleaf Barton itself is the main house and sleeps 8 people in 5 star luxury. There are two king sized bedrooms (one ensuite) with new oak furniture and new beds for 2012 and two twin bedded rooms, a family bathroom and separate cloakroom. The kitchen/diner is fully equipped with modern dual fuel range cooker, separate fridge and freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer. There is a separate dining room and lounge on the upper level. The lounge has views over the countryside to the far distance and 42 inch plasma TV/video with Freeview for additional TV channels.

Location

Ivyleaf Hill is an exclusive residential area approximately two miles north of Bude located just off the A39 Atlantic Highway. It is an elevated position with stunning views over both the coast towards Bude Bay and in the distance to Trevose Head and also the North Cornish countryside towards Bodmin. The National Trust beach at Sandymouth is approx 3-4 miles distant. Guests at Ivyleaf Barton Cottages enjoy free use of a re-surfaced all weather full size tennis court . There are some rackets and balls available for use if your have forgotten your own equipment.

There is a privately owned 9 hole golf course and driving range where Ivyleaf guests enjoy a special weekly rate and have a private access gate. The par 33 course starts from just in front of cottages Barn, Mill, Granary and Stables so there are few excuses not to get a round in before breakfast.

Kingslea is a charming cottage for two, attached on one side, with far reaching countryside views and close to the beautiful Tamar valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

St Mellion Golf Club has two 18 hole championship golf courses:
Jack Nicklaus Course : Jack has built in classic high tees with good views of the fairways, water hazards and the necessity to place the ball with precision in order to return a low score. Not a single hole on this challenging golf courses is mediocre - each one tests the best. The greens are constructed to the American specification of a sand and peat mix and seeded with special imported US grass imported to give a true putting surface that can be played year round. The medal tees play 6,000 yards for a real test of your golf. The course has a variation of tee positions, so that both the the club golfer and the professional golfer can stretch themselves.

Old Course : The 6000 yard "Old Course" at St Mellion is a championship golf course in its own right. Opened in 1976 it has many holes which will test the very best golfer. The bunkers are positioned to catch all but the very best shot, making it wiser to position the ball for a pitch to the green. The long par 4 third can be reached with two good shots. The twelfth is the most picturesque of the Par three's with the lake being quite awe inspiring to the nervous player.

Slipway Quay comprises 4 large properties fashioned from a mill and warehouses that once stored cargoes from ships moored alongside. This is now a very tranquil stretch of the tidal Tamar Estuary, where from the marvellous balcony of No. 4 one can sit and watch the abundant bird life at both high and low tides, or enjoy the passing craft that ply their way from the historic dockyard of Plymouth to the upper reaches of the estuary to the National Trust's Cotehele House or Morwellham Quay, a 'living' Victorian village, port and copper mine. Cargreen is an off the beaten track, unspoilt, peaceful village with a pub and within easy reach of the rest of Cornwall and South Devon. The property is spacious, very comfortable and has outstanding views from every room , in fact it is not difficult to imagine one could be afloat as the balcony extends over the water at high tide! Jack Nicklaus Course
Jack has built in classic high tees with good views of the fairways, water hazards and the necessity to place the ball with precision in order to return a low score. Not a single hole on this challenging golf courses is mediocre - each one tests the best. The greens are constructed to the American specification of a sand and peat mix and seeded with special imported US grass imported to give a true putting surface that can be played year round. The medal tees play 6,000 yards for a real test of your golf. The course has a variation of tee positions, so that both the the club golfer and the professional golfer can stretch themselves.
Old Course
The 6000 yard "Old Course" at St Mellion is a championship golf course in its own right. Opened in 1976 it has many holes which will test the very best golfer. The bunkers are positioned to catch all but the very best shot, making it wiser to position the ball for a pitch to the green. The long par 4 third can be reached with two good shots. The twelfth is the most picturesque of the Par three's with the lake being quite awe inspiring to the nervous player.

All three cottages are in the grounds of Kilhellan House, a much loved country family home, set deep in the heart of Cornwall within five acres of beautiful grounds that include a superb outdoor heated swimming pool (May to end September). Close to the fine city of Truro and the beautiful sand dunes and beaches of Perranporth and St Agnes, this stunning detached house is very much a period piece of old fashioned charm, very decorative, brimming with books, paintings, handsome fabrics and drapes, good quality antiques and includes plenty of gracious and homely touches. A welcome home-made Cornish cream tea is provided on arrival!   This is an outstanding place to be in summer as the spacious grounds consist of wide lawns, perfect for croquet, cricket, picnics and camping, a large pond (children need to take care), provided with a rowing boat, a stream and all bordered by extensive fields. Warm and cosy in winter, this is a particularly special spot for Christmas and New Year.

It is set down a peaceful country lane with far reaching views across beautiful countryside and to the sea beyond. Ideal for couples or two sharing, the cottage is tastefully decorated and furnished with plenty of room to spread out and relax. Step out onto the private patio, with adjoining flowerbeds and a home produce garden where the owner grows a wide selection of fruit and vegetables, and enjoy the view across the fields to the sea. This terraced coastguard cottage, one of seven, stands high above the picturesque National Trust harbour of Mullion Cove that is protected from the sea by imposing serpentine rocks and stout sea walls. The cottage is located only a few minutes steep walk from the harbour and the sandy beach at Polurrain Cove is accessed along the coastal path just half a mile from the cottage. Mullion village, with its shops, restaurants and pubs is about 20 minutes walk along the road or by footpath at the rear of the cottage. The three-storey cottage enjoys views from the front bedroom towards the Cove and beyond, and the rear bedrooms look out across Mounts Bay to St Michael's Mount and Penzance in the distance.

Accommodation: Entrance at the rear of the property from parking area to hallway and door into an open plan living room. The kitchen area is fitted with pine units, includes electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher with washing machine located in the ground floor bathroom. Rates

Fabulous beaches and breath-taking coastal paths are in abundance. The wide, sandy beach and rolling breakers of Widemouth Bay are just a 15-minute drive or alternatively try Crackington Haven, a delightful, unspoilt cove with dramatic cliffs, beach cafes and lovely village inn. Dramatically perched on the north Cornish coast, Bude is incredibly popular year round and yet manages to retain its Victorian charm whilst offering something for everyone and has an excellent selection of shops and restaurants, many offering local seafood.

The Bude and North Cornwall Golf Club (one of Cornwall's finest) along with stunning coastal and country walks, tennis, horse riding, mountain boarding, surfing and fishing are all on offer here. The internationally acclaimed annual jazz festival is fantastic and not to be missed. The pretty fishing villages of Padstow, Port Isaac (where Doc Martin was filmed, re-named Port Wen in the series) and Rock are well worth a visit and mystical Tintagel with the legendary King Arthur's Castle is close by. The wild beauty of Dartmoor, Exmoor and Bodmin Moors are a must for walkers and for a great day out try Crealy Adventure Park and the famous Eden Project.

Other things to do include:-
Horse riding on Bodmin Moor, on the Camel Trail or a gentle hack along the local country lanes (own horse transport needed).
Fishing at Adamsfield private fishery 3 miles away, don't forget you will need a licence and pay a
day fee.
More Golf at the Trethorne Golf and Country Club and for the kids there is an indoor activity area, 8 lane bowling alley and farm animals at the Trethorne Leisure Park

Cycling, walking and bird watching -: One of the most popular recreational routes in the country, the Camel Trail runs from Padstow to Poley's Bridge, via Wadebridge and Bodmin. The trail passes through the wooded countryside of the upper Camel Valley and alongside the picturesque Camel Estuary - a paradise for birdwatchers. The traffic free trail follows the route of an old railway and is ideal for family cycling as it is fairly level all the way and the views of moorland, woodland and estuary are spectacular. The trail is also used by walkers, joggers and horse-riders.
